Election Day 2011: Whitehall Has Spoken

Greetings! 🙂 It has been a while since I’ve posted. This blog has been inactive through the summer and fall as I’ve dealt with some health issues. More about that at a later date. For now, there was an election yesterday and that’s where the focus is.

Yesterday’s results were not a surprise. Hozza ran unchallenged and was able to enjoy a quiet election night at home. In the commissioner’s race, Phil Ginder and Clair Hunsberger are returning to their commission seats in 2012. Bruce Brinker and Dennis Hower will be joining them. Kyle Kern had chosen not to run for re-election and is now officially a lame duck until January 1. The Library Referendum passed and that was refreshing to see. Whitehall needs it’s public library and the idea of closing it to make up for shortfalls in the Whitehall-Coplay school budget was disheartening, to say the least.

Whitehall’s attention was not on politics or the election for the last few months. The saga of the pot bellied pig, and the shooting outside of the Walmart on MacArthur Road and of course, the Penn State scandal has captured the news headlines and people’s attention. Yesterday’s embarrassing rant by Matt Millen (A Whitehall native) on ESPN only added fuel to the fire. Whitehall has been in the news but for all the wrong reasons.

It’s great to be back here blogging and I promise daily updates for the next couple of weeks!

The hotdog guy and a union stooge are now going to be on our township’s council. Heaven help us we have nothing but suck ups and idiots ‘serving’ us

Jim, nice to have you back here. Did you notice that most of the commissioners ran as independent candidates? Wonder what the deal was with that. Also wonder if Kern would have went for re-election if it wasnt for your blog lol
